May 2015

Oh - get me - another post - that'll be because it's raining!  :)

This months round up - sun, showers and flowers pretty much sums it up I think.  Some nice days out to watch cricket and up to London with a friend, and time to enjoy the garden (along with feeling frustrated that Summer isn't too keen to turn up!)

Walking in the sunshine

Hi

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far.  Mark has taken Matt to watch the rugby at Twickenham today, so I have had a free day.  Having seen the weather forecast, I wanted to do something outside today, as it doesn't look hopeful for tomorrow!

I generally see my mum at some point over the weekend, so it seemed a good idea to go out for a walk with her dog.  Mum suggested a park we used to visit when my sister and I were little.  We had a gentle walk and chat and ended with a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake outside in the sunshine.  I wish I'd taken my camera - but is was so lovely, I thought I'd share the snaps I took with my phone anyway.  The park and tea rooms were pretty much as I'd remembered, although the pond was smaller!

Have a great Sunday.

Taking a moment

I don't know about you, but I'm usually in a rush.  Pretty much from the moment I get up, up until the end of the day.  I try to fit so much in, that sometimes I forget to enjoy what I'm doing!  And, most of what I do is enjoyable, and my choice!

This morning as I was walking back from the school run (if I can call it that - walking to school with a 17 year old, across fields and carrying his boots home?) I decided to amble back home and just check on the garden, and enjoy the moment.  (Good job I did as the sun disappeared soon after, and we were back to grey skies, wind and rain, with the odd bit of sun).

These photos were only taken with my phone, as I hadn't planned to take them, but hopefully you can see what a lovely morning it was.

And the view this morning from my office window - a green woodpecker.

And some jackdaws flying past - they have worked out how to get the seed out the feeders.  Such clever birds - but they eat so much!

And one of the hundreds (well it feels as if it's that many!) wood pigeons who spend the day in my garden - just taking time out for a quick bath!

Sometimes it's ok when I'm put on "hold" on the phone and can enjoy these sights from the office.  :)

I hope you've all had a good day too.

This morning

What has happened to Spring?

This was the view from my kitchen window this morning - and pretty much the entire day.

Wishing everyone a happy week - and welcome to my new followers.  Thanks for popping by.  :)

Thank you

I was so pleased to receive a notification that I had been nominated by Kate at I live, I love, I craft, I am me  in 'The two Good Reads' .Thank you.  There are so many lovely blogs to read, I am touched she thought of me.

My nominations are Amy at love made my home.  Amy and I have become good friends - in the virtual world and hope to be able to meet up, when ordinary life doesn't interfere!  Her blog, in case you haven't read it, is warm and friendly and covers lots of home and garden and crafty bits.

My other nomination is CJ at Above the River.  CJ makes me laugh as she talks about her life with her boys and her allotment.

There are so many lovely blogs and bloggers it has been difficult to choose just two!

And I can't leave you without sharing this photo of Smudge.  She is feeling a bit off colour at the moment - a combination of old age and a thyroid problem.  She was not happy with the weather yesterday!  When a girl needs to pop outside for a quick wee, she doesn't want to get soaked!  Look at her poor tail.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend.

Blogging

Hi there

I had lots of ideas for blog posts - one on the blossom in my garden.  Then the wind blew it all away.  I assume my neighbour has a nice carpet of blossom on her lawn!  Then I thought - tulips - but they've not done very well this year, and the wind didn't help them either.  Then, I thought - well I'm going up to London on Thursday to see the Grand Design show - there's bound to be lots of photo opportunities there.  I was too busy chatting with my friend!!  But we did have a great day.  Watching Matt play cricket yesterday was too cold for any photos - I was wrapped in my blanket crocheting.  :)

But today, the sun has come out and I've been in the garden - so here are some photos.  Just a jumble of what caught my eye today.  I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

April Roundup

Another good month.  I'm really enjoying just taking a few moments to look at what I've done over the month.  It's also encouraging me to keep my scrap book up to date!  :)  Can't be bad.  I've ended up with a complete year to do a couple of times, which is daunting to say the least.

This month had plenty going on again, and I've enjoyed seeing the light change and the garden gallop in to life (although the blossom has taken a bashing over the last couple of days and I hadn't got round to taking any photos).

I have to say, I'm really getting used to this new life on my own.

Wishing everyone a good Bank Holiday and a Happy May.

Hi there

Hi

I haven't completely disappeared off the face of the earth - I promise.  I've been busy in the office, and have also been out quite a bit, catching up with friends, and the usual Pilates and Rock Choir.  I'm shattered now!!  I must be getting older.  So I've poured a glass of wine, and am going to catch up reading blogs and doing some crochet this evening.  Sounds good to me!

I don't have much in the way of photos to share from the last couple of weeks - but this was last nights sunset at home.  I will miss this when I have to move - but in the meantime, I'm loving it!

Wishing everyone a great Bank Holiday weekend.
